Xbox 8 will be the next Xbox generation. Xbox 8 release date for today not yet confirmed by Microsoft. Microsoft filed the complaints in May. Tech site Fusible reports that the domains listed in the disputes were ordered transferred to Microsoft in late June after two separate panels found the man who filed for them had no rights to the domains and that they were being used "in bad faith."
Microsoft has just secured the name Xbox 8. Before you get too excited, note that this doesn't mean the next Xbox is coming anytime soon. It may not even be called Xbox 8, though the name would be a convenient and obvious tie-in to Windows 8. Microsoft is all about one big integrated ecosystem this time around, so if we see an Xbox 8, I'm betting we'll see a Windows Phone 8, too.
Anyway, all we know right now is, someone else was holding onto the name, and Microsoft simply wanted it under their own control. It's a pretty unrevealing move, but it does suggest something is in the works. It's also making for a lot of buzz so we can probably expect an official announcement soon.
